While I was home, I watched a program about mothers in nature with… my mom(haha).. anyway, it was really interesting to see the different animals and how they behaved and how they raised their kids. Some just left them there, they were fully developed from the moment they were born, other animals needed their mothers for several years before they are capable of surviving out there…
Anyway, some of the animals fascinated me a lot and among them were the lion. If I understood it correctly, the female got her babies away from the rest of the pack. Then when they were old enough, the mother introduced them to the rest. She had to be careful to make sure that they accepted them as their own, if not, they would kill the babiessss.
Then, what caught my interest(ugh that sounds horrible, you know what I mean ~) was that if the dominant male was replaced with a new dominant male, the new leader would kill all the cubs(And then mate with the lionesses, he didn’t want the cubs from other males to grow up). If many of the lionesses had cubs, then they would take up the fight and try to let the children live, but if only a few, like if only one lioness had cubs, then the rest wouldn’t help her.. and she would just watch the male kill all her babies…….. she looked so sad x___x
Anyway, as I have also been kind of obsessed with masks lately, and I ended up drawing a lionish mask, and then I ended up making this, inspired by the nature program.
so… that’s it. I’m tempted to make more images like this inspired by that program, but we’ll see *shrugs* But now you learned something new! (maybe)
